We are an independent not-for-profit agency covering the North East, Yorkshire and East Midlands. Our mission is to provide safe, high-quality, family-based care for children looked after by the Local Authority. As a foster carer with Team Fostering you’ll receive an unrivalled programme of support so that you can do your best for the young people in your care. This includes 24/7 support, 21 nights short break care allowance, one-to-one education and family support where needed, an incredible programme of activities and holidays, training opportunities, psychological support, mentoring and peer support from our family of foster carers, life assurance scheme, loyalty bonuses and car mileage and Christmas allowances. We also have a Start Up Fund available if you need help to kit out your spare bedroom and our young people have access to memorial funds which can pay for things like driving lessons or experiences.
We’re looking for foster carers who can make a difference to a child’s life by providing them with a safe, stable and loving home and guide them towards a brighter future. We welcome all applicants, regardless of age, race, beliefs, gender, or sexual orientation. While there are basic eligibility criteria for fostering, we understand that circumstances vary. If you do not meet all the criteria currently, we’d still love to have a chat. The basic eligibility criteria for becoming a foster carer includes:
• A spare bedroom
• Available for 24/7 care (self-employed or part-time work considered)
• Live in the North East, Yorkshire or East Midlands
• If you’re in a relationship you have been together for at least 2 years
• Over 21 years old
• Although you don’t need to drive, you must have access to reliable transport to support the needs of a young person
• Commitment to making a positive impact to a child’s life
• Provide a nurturing and stable family environment
• Enjoy caring for and supporting children’s needs
• Embrace the challenges of foster care
• Zero tolerance for discrimination
• Team player mindset
While it is not essential to be a parent, it is important to have some relevant experience with children or vulnerable adults that will prepare you for the realities of fostering. We also consider applications from people who have their own children and can talk to you about this. If you’re already a foster carer we’re happy to talk through the process of transferring to Team Fostering with you.
