It is becoming increasingly recognised by most employers that in order to attain and to maintain maximum performance by their employees then they must have a positive workforce that are highly motivated and strive to achieve their best at all times, ultimately excelling within their role. If an employee feels so positive about their job and is willing to go above and beyond what they have to do, simply because they want to, then you have a workforce that thrives on perfection and this will be reflected within the company very quickly indeed.
This can be shown in a variety of ways by the employee such as employees, regardless of the nature of their job or role, being encouraged to become active within the company with regard to improving standards and communications. By collectively working as a team, employers should be inspiring their employees to specifically focus on doing a good job and to take time thinking about their role and if and how it could be done better.
Any company that has happy, positive thinking and motivated employees will notice improved efficiency, productivity, profits, satisfaction of both customers and clients as well as staff retention. Staff sickness, absences and punctuality issues will invariably be reduced over time if this has been presented as a previous issue.
Therefore, managers should implement strong leadership interpersonal skills and allow employees to have a voice which is heard whilst maintaining constant high values and ethics within the company. Involvement is crucial for getting the best out of employees.
Employees who are actively involved in decision making and who feel a part of the internal structure of the company will feel a sense of protective responsibility towards the company and the workforce as a whole as they realise that they are encouraged and able to make a positive difference.
Other motivating factors are to encourage employees to embark on further training, recognition and regular constructive feedback, appraisals, appropriate responsibilities and real possibilities of growth and promotions. Pay structures should be matched with the employees role, abilities and responsibilities which includes appropriate increments and bonuses.
Additionally, team building exercises should be regularly incorporated as these are proven to be beneficial not only for the smooth running of any company but also the mental wellbeing of the workforce.
