The Role:

Technical Engineer

At PointWire, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Infrastructure and Wintel Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing and maintaining Windows-based environments and infrastructure, with additional expertise in Corelight, Crowdstrike and/or Tanium. This role will involve a mix of project work, system administration, and support responsibilities. Key Responsibilities: • Administer and utilise Tanium for endpoint management and security. • Manage and support cloud infrastructure (e.g., Azure, AWS). • Monitor system performance, perform troubleshooting, and provide solutions to hardware and software issues. • Maintain and manage backups, disaster recovery plans, and business continuity plans. • Collaborate with network, security, and other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and security of systems. • Implement and manage automated deployment and configuration management systems. • Provide third-level support and mentoring to technology associates. • Document system configurations, processes, and procedures. • Implement and manage Corelight for network traffic analysis and threat detection. • Contributing and owning technical initiatives. • Contributing to technical services enhancements and innovations. • Salary for this role ranges between £50,000 - £95,000 p/a dependant on experience. Education and Certifications: • Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, MCSA, VCP, AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator) are highly desirable. • Corelight, Tanium and/or Crowdstrike certifications will be an advantage. Experience: • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role. • Proven experience in managing and troubleshooting Windows Server environments. • Experience in endpoint management tools such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM), ManageEngine, Tanium and/or Intune. • Experience in implementing, managing and troubleshooting Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy. • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V. • Experience with cloud services (e.g., Azure, AWS). • Solid understanding of network protocols, firewall management, and security principles. • Experience with an XDR toolset will be an advantage. • Administer and maintain virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V). • Fundamental understanding of business operations. Public Technical Skills: • Proficiency in Windows Server (all versions). • Knowledge in Linux (Redhat / Ubuntu). • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy. • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation tools. • Familiarity with backup and recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault). • Understanding of monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios). • Skilled in administering endpoint management and security. • Knowledge of ITIL practices and principles.
