The UK Careers Fair & The Black Country Skills Factory have teamed up for another year to ensure that young people from across the region can continue to gain an insight into the future world of the workplace and create links with local employers, colleges, training providers and universities.
Since launch, The Black Country Careers Expo has been a great success with fantastic feedback from our schools & colleges who have been using the Expo within the school curriculum and encouraging students to use it at home.
The event has helped support Black Country Schools & Colleges to increase their Gatsby Benchmark 7 result by almost 20% and since January, we have seen over 40,000 Expo platform visits.
This Expo has been an excellent resource for young people, parents, and teachers to find out information, guidance on the next steps and further opportunities available. As a result, we will continue to have the Expo live and open from September 2021 until July 2022. In addition, we are upgrading some of the features and including a new search engine for students to enter keywords that will enable them to identify stands to visit based on their interests.
Vikki Haines, Black Country Careers Hub and Enterprise Adviser Network Lead, Black Country Skills Factory, Comments: "It is important for us to be able to provide opportunities for young people to enable them to make informed and positive choices regarding their future pathways. This Expo provides that for them with a vast array of information and guidance but also details of live vacancies and apprenticeship opportunities within the Black Country."
There will continue to be a live vacancies section for anyone searching for employment and apprenticeship opportunities across the Black Country.
Jordan Lawson, Managing Director of The UK Careers Fair said: “We’re delighted to be working with the Black Country Skills Factory once again, to power a fully immersive event that will provide young people across the Black Country with the opportunity to gain insight into a variety of the Black Country’s most thriving industries, the possibilities, and pathways.”
With a fantastic mix of local and national organizations exhibiting, students can visit all of the online exhibitors and watch a collection of helpful pre-recorded videos to help them make an informed decision.
